Police said the suspect punched the victim 3 or 4 times in the face.
NORTHAMPTON — Police are seeking the public’s help as they investigate an attack on a 25-year-old Easthampton man on Pearl Street early Saturday morning.
The victim, repeatedly punched in the face, was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where he was treated for severe facial injuries and released, Capt. Scott A. Savino said.
Police were summoned to Pearl Street about 1:15 a.m. and found the victim laying in the roadway, bleeding profusely from his head and face. Although the victim was conscious, his speech was labored, Savino said.
The victim told police that he did not know the male who punched him and that he has never seen him before.
A witness told police that the suspect came out of a light blue or gray four-door Honda and asked the victim “Where’s the party?” Savino said.
One of the two – it’s not clear from the police report whether it was the victim or suspect – walked toward the other, Savino said. Words were exchanged and the suspect threw a punch at the victim, who then fell to the ground.
The suspect continued to punch the victim once he was on the ground and threw a total of three to four punches, Savino said.
Three males remained inside the suspect's car during the beating and did not participate. The suspect and the three others then left in the car, Savino said.
The suspect is described as a white or light-skinned male with some kind of facial hair and wearing a blue shirt or jacket.
The victim met with Northampton police to further discuss the attack on Monday, Savino said. Police have yet to determine a motive, he said.
Those with information are asked to call police at (413) 587-1100.
