Hery Sierra-Rosa will be arraigned on assault charges Monday in Holyoke District Court.
HOLYOKE – A 22-year-old man was charged with assaulting a pregnant woman and injuring her so badly she had to be taken to the hospital Sunday.
Hery Sierra-Rosa, of 37 Davis St., is being held on $5,000 bail after being arrested at about 8:40 a.m. He was charged with domestic assault and battery, aggravated assault and battery on a pregnant woman and assault and battery causing serious bodily harm. He will be arraigned in Holyoke District Court Monday, Police Lt. David Fournier said.
Sierra-Rosa allegedly attacked his girlfriend, who is six-months pregnant, outside their home, Fournier said.
“A couple of witnesses said they saw him grab her by the neck and she had serious facial injuries,” he said.
The victim was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield by ambulance. She was treated for her injuries and released, he said.
