Both operators were taken to the hospital after the crash.
HADLEY - Police are investigating a two-car crash that happened on Lawrence Plain Road (Route 47) on Friday afternoon.
Sgt. Damion P. Shanley said Michael Lavallee, 38, of Granby, was driving south in a 2007 Ford pick-up truck towing a small trailer when he crossed the center line and collided with a northbound 2003 Oldsmobile operated by Dorothy Kowal, 77, of Hadley.
He said the force of the crash caused Lavallee's truck to roll over onto his side, and Lavallee had to be extricated by the Fire Department.
Shanley said seat belt use is unknown. A medical issue could have caused Lavallee to crash, he said. Lavallee was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield for treatment, while Kowal was taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton.
The accident was reported at 1:16 p.m.
