McGee won a four-year term as city clerk in the Nov. 5 election.

HOLYOKE -- City clerk-elect Brenna Murphy McGee has established a website where residents can post ideas to improve the office.

“During this transition phase it is very important for me to hear from the people of Holyoke when it comes to what they would like to see from their city clerk and the clerk’s office," McGee said Thursday.

The website is brennamcgee.com.

McGee, a city councilor at large, won a four-year term as city clerk in the Nov. 5 election. She defeated Assistant City Clerk Louise K. Bisson, 57.3 percent to 42.4 percent, or 5,055 votes to 3,740 votes.

McGee and other election winners will be sworn into office in January.

McGee said she has been discussing the transition with City Clerk Suzanne Mead and will continue meeting with Mead and clerk staff. Mead will return to her previous position of assistant registrar of voters in January.

“One of my primary goals is going to be focused around improving customer service for our Holyoke residents so to have Suzanne’s experience and advice available during this transition phase is a tremendous help to those efforts,” McGee said.

The City Council appointed Mead city clerk in February because Susan M. Egan, the longtime clerk, was set to retire March 1 because of illness. Egan was clerk for more than 20 years and worked in the clerk's office for 43 years.
