Indian Orchard stabbing leaves one man hospitalized

A man was stabbed earlier and he is currently in surgery.

Update
5:30 a.m.

Police now say the victim of the stabbing is listed in stable condition at the Baystate Medical Center and is expected to survive.



SPRINGFIELD
— An Indian Orchard man is in surgery at the Baystate Medical Center after he was stabbed several times in the back shortly after 1 a.m.

Springfield Police Capt. Trent Duda confirmed that detectives are at the 316 Oak St.crime scene investigating the assault.

Officers who responded to the scene at 1:18 a.m. said the victim was semiconscious and unable to give coherent responses to their questions. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

The victim has not been identified, but police say he resides at the Oak Street address. The stabbing apparently took place in the man's living room or nearby.
