A family-friendly movie will be shown in the auditorium of the high school.
SOUTH HADLEY – A “Community Winter Carnival”; featuring games, food, performances, a movie and a raffle will be presented on Jan. 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at South Hadley High School, 153 Newton St.
Admission is free.
Activities will include a story time for kids, games in the gym, cookie decorating, Zumba and, weather permitting, snowman-building.
SH Improv, an improvisational theater group from the high school, will perform at 10 a.m. in the auditorium. The youngsters act out comic scenes on the spot, based on themes suggested by their audiences.
Vocalist Kyle Ray will perform at 11 a.m., followed at noon by an acoustic rock group called Leather and Lace.
Also at 11 a.m., a “Local Restaurant Showcase” will begin in the cafeteria, with food samples priced at $1-$2.
Berkshire Yogurt, the Yarde House Tavern, Johnny’s Bar and Grille, Brunelle’s Dockside Restaurant, Olde Towne Catering, and McCray’s Farm are among the eateries scheduled to participate.
The five-member group called Moose and the High Tops will harmonize on classic rock tunes at 1 p.m. in the auditorium
During intermissions, there will be singing in the halls by the Victory Eights, an a cappella ensemble of young women from Mount Holyoke College.
The Victory Eights were founded in 1942, making them the longest-running female collegiate a cappella group in the country. Their program ranges from jazz to contemporary music.
A family-friendly movie will be shown in the auditorium at 2:30 p.m.
