A state police dog was helping search for a masked gunman.
HOLYOKE - Masked and armed with a handgun, an intruder fought with a homeowner in his kitchen at 787 Dwight St. Tuesday, and police are investigating what was reported as a home invasion.
“The homeowner received minor injuries and the suspect fled the scene,” Lt. Matthew F. Moriarty said in a prepared statement.
Police got the report about 6:20 and a state police canine unit was called in to try to track the suspect, he said.
“Officers responded to 787 Dwight and were told the suspect had left by the rear door. The home owner reports he and suspect fought in the kitchen,” Moriarty said.
