State police from the Northampton barracks also are assisting and a state police helicopter is on the scene.

SOUTH HADLEY - A state police spokesman said that emergency crews are searching for a 5-year-old girl in the Connecticut River off River Road and Cove Island.
Emergency personnel from South Hadley and Holyoke are on the scene. The call came in just before 9:30 p.m. The Holyoke Fire Department has a rescue boat in the water, and is assisting South Hadley fire officials.
State police from the Northampton barracks also are assisting, as well as the dive team, and a state police helicopter has been called.
State police said the girl is believed to have fallen into the river from a residence on Cove Island Road.
The Massachusetts State Police Franklin-Hampshire Detective Unit is investigating this incident.
