Three men are accused of severely beating a fourth man.
North Adams— Two North Adams men were ordered held in lieu of $15,000 cash bail in connection with the Saturday, June 22 brutal beating of a North Adams man. An arrested warrant for a Troy, N.Y. man has been issued as well.
According to the North Adams Transcript, Keith S. Larrabee and Omar A Lopez were arrested Wednesday in North Adams and charged with a variety of assault charges stemming from what police said was the "kicking, stomping, punching and slamming" of the victim's head on the ground near a McDonald's restaurant in North Adams at approximately 1:30 a.m. June 22.
The victim, Todd Walker, suffered cranial fractures around the eyes, cheeks and temple, loss and breakage of several teeth, lacerations to the face and a significant hearing loss in one ear, a hospital spokesman said.
Police said there had been a confrontation inside a nearby bar called the Crystal Hard Hat on Union Street between the four principles minutes before the beating. But, the three suspects were forced to leave after they threatened Walker. They apparently waited for Walker to emerge and beat him when he came outside.
Police said a surveillance tape from the nearby McDonalds shows the three suspects very clearly, Police Officer Gregory Onorato told the newspaper.
Walker was initially taken to the North Adams Regional Hospital but was later transferred to the Albany Medical Center in Albany, N.Y. due to the severity of his injuries. He was admitted in stable condition.
Larrabee, 18, and Lopez, 21, will be arraigned in North Adams District Court Friday on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, aggravated assault and battery and assault with malicious intent to maim or disfigure.
Lopez is currently on probation for an assault in 2012.
The third suspect in the beating, David Landfear,Jr, 27, of Troy, N.Y. will face the same charges once he is arrested.
