The voter registration deadline is June 26, for the casino referendum in Springfield.
SPRINGFIELD – Residents wishing to vote July 16, on the casino referendum question, must be registered to vote, or register by the deadline, June 26.
On June 26, the Election Office at City Hall will be open extra hours until 8 p.m. The office is on the ground floor.
Voters on July 16, will decide if they support a proposal by MGM Resorts International to locate a casino project in the South End. If approved by voters, the casino would be forwarded for consideration by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
The state Gaming Commission will consider granting one casino license in Western Massachusetts, with competing proposals in Springfield, Palmer and West Springfield.
