A man was shot at least once in the late afternoon Sunday on an Indian Orchard street. The shooting happened at 14 Montcalm St., near the intersection of Healy.

SPRINGFIELD -- A man was shot at least once in the late afternoon Sunday on an Indian Orchard street.
The shooting happened at 14 Montcalm St., near the intersection of Healy.
Neighbors said there had been a large crowd gathering all day and fighting in front of the three-story apartment building at that address.
"Some kid pulled out a gun and some innocent guy got shot," said one neighbor who did not want to be identified for fear of retribution. "He is not a troublemaker. He is a good person."
An ambulance transported the victim to Baystate Medical Center. There was no immediate report of his condition.
Police blocked the area immediately tape and began an investigation on the scene.
Residents said the man who was a shot was a neighbor who had just been outside at the time and had not been involved in the altercation.
