Western Mass crime briefs: Holyoke woman charged with 'sexual conduct for a fee'; vandals topple dozens of graves at Oak Grove Cemetery in Springfield

One or more vandals knocked over around 50 headstones at the cemetery in Springfield's Bay neighborhood, according to authorities.

HOLYOKE — City resident Michele Lee Duval, 37, of 910 Dwight St. was charged with sexual conduct for a fee following a 4 p.m. Monday traffic stop near the inter,section of Maple and Norfolk streets, according to Holyoke police records.

Duval also was charged with larceny and disorderly conduct during the motor vehicle stop, police said. With her was Glenn J. Nadeau, 75, of 5 Evergreen Drive, Holyoke, who was arrested on a default warrant, police said.

SPRINGFIELD — Police are investigating an incident in which roughly 50 headstones were toppled at Oak Grove Cemetery in the Bay neighborhood on Sunday.

Most of the headstones have since been replaced and repaired, but authorities are still seeking to charge those responsible for the vandalism. Anyone with information is asked to call Springfield police detectives at (413) 787-6355.
