STURBRIDGE — A stop by a Massachusetts StatePolice trooper for a lane violation turned into a drug bust resulting in the arrest of three men and the confiscation of hundreds of Oxyodone pills and thousands of dollars in cash.
The stop on Interstate 84 in Sturbridge Saturday resulted in a search of the vehicle operated by Juan-Gabriel Laboy-Rodriquez of Philadelphia. Using drug-sniffing dog, police were able to find a custom made compartment designed to hold contraband. In the compartment, Trooper David DiCrescenzo found 220 Oxycodone tablets along with $37,000 in cash.
Laboy-Rodriquez was arrested and charged with trafficking in a Class B substance and a left lane violation. His passengers, Michael Gonzalez and Hector Guilamo, both from the Bronx, New York were charged with trafficking in a Class B substance. Upon investigation it was determined that Laboy-Rodriquez and Gonzalez were both wanted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Both men are being held on ICE detention warrants. All three will be arraigned in Dudley District Court Monday.
