Police responded to the report of a fight from a Wilbraham Road accident

SPRINGFIELD — Three people were hospitalized following a fracas at a Sixteen Acres high school graduation party when uninvited guests attempted to force their way into the celebration. A fight broke out, Springfield Police Capt. Larry Brown said, and two people were stabbed and a third person was hospitalized with head injuries. The house also suffered damage during the brawl.

Brown said police became aware of the incident only when two people flagged officers at the scene of a Wilbraham Road motor vehicle accident scene shortly before 1a.m. Sunday. The two had been stabbed at the party on nearby Maybrook Road, one in the hand and the second in the abdomen. The two were driving themselves to get help. They were transported to Baystate Medical Center and cruisers were dispatched to the party location.

According to police reports, upon arrival police found a third victim, whom party goers said had been shot. However, upon investigation, police determined the victim had been hit in the head with a brick, not a bullet. That person was also transported to the hospital. Information was sketchy at press time but police believe at least one of the victims was a resident of the home where the party was thrown.

According to Brown, the stabbing victim with the abdominal wound was admitted in stable but serious condition, while the second stabbing victim was treated for a hand wound and later released. The third victim was admitted in stable condition with a head injury.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are looking for a 2-door, white Toyota Solara in which at least some of the party crashers may have left the scene.
