Palmer police arrested tow Springfield residents after a car chase that ended in a crash.
PALMER — Two Springfield men were arrested on drug charges Friday night in Palmer.
Police arrested Ronnie S. Ross Jr.,30, and Michael D. Lowe, 27, around 7:20 p.m. after stopping the 2001 Acura they were driving on Bridget St., police said.
As officers began to approach the vehicle, Ross sped off, accelerating toward another cruiser that was approaching from the opposite direction with its blue lights on, officials said.
The Acura collided with the cruiser. Ross then attempted to flee but was surrounded by police. Ross and Lowe were removed at gun point and placed under arrest.
Police said the Acura was totaled as a result of the crash and the cruiser sustained minor damage. There were no injuries.
Police seized crack cocaine, pills, marijuana and a quantity of cash from the vehicle.
Ross is charged with possession to distribute a Class E substance, possession to distribute a Class B substance and possession to distribute a Class D substance. He is also charged with failing to stop for police, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, operating with a revoked licenses and assault with a dangerous weapon(car).
Lowe is charged with possession to distribute a Class E substance, possession to distribute a Class B substance and possession to distribute a Class D substance.
Both are being held on $50,000 bail.
