HOLYOKE -- A Paper City man will be seeing even more green than usual this spring after claiming a $4 million state lottery prize Thursday.
Matthew Moriarty hit the jackpot on the Massachusetts State Lottery's new $10 instant game, "50X the Cash." The game debuted Jan. 8, 2013, and Moriarty is the first grand prize winner.
An audio visual technician, Moriarty chose to receive a one-time payment of $2.6 million. Moriarty will have to pay taxes on the one-time payment amount.

Moriarty purchased his winning ticket at a Gulf Oil station on the westbound side of the Massachusetts Turnpike in Framingham. The store will receive a $40,000 commission.
The last million-dollar winner from western Massachusetts, according to the Lottery's list of winners, was an Amherst woman who claimed $1 million in the "$10,000,000 Diamond Millionaire" instant game on Jan. 2, 2013.
