Judge Mary Lou Rup said the trial should take about 3 weeks.
NORTHAMPTON — In an effort that took four days, a jury has been chosen for the murder trial of Cara L. Rintala in Hampshire Superior Court.
Rintala is charged with murdering her wife, Annamarie Cochrane Rintala, 37.
Cochrane Rintala was found beaten and strangled to death in the couple’s Granby home on March 29, 2010.
Superior Court Judge Mary Lou Rup opted to select an extra two jurors Tuesday, but said if none of the jurors selected last week need to be excused, she expects to excuse the two jurors selected last on Tuesday.
Rup said the trial will begin Wednesday morning.
The jury has 18 people – 12 men and six women. If Rup dismisses the last two jurors selected Tuesday, the jury will be made up of 10 men and six women.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Steven Gagne and Jennifer Suhl. Rintala’s lawyers are David P. Hoose and Luke Ryan.
Rup said the trial, now that the jury is selected, should take about three weeks.
