Johnny Oliveras and Jellisa M. Lugo, residents of 147 Euclid Ave. in Springfield, were charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute.
SPRINGFIELD — Police arrested two people Thursday morning on drug charges following a raid on an apartment on Euclid Avenue in the city’s Forest Park neighborhood.
Arrested were Johnny Oliveras, 23, and Jellisa M. Lugo, 18, residents of 147 Euclid Ave.
Each was charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute.
Members of the Springfield Police Narcotics Bureau, under the direction of Capt. William Collins and Sgt. Philip Tarpey, raided the apartment just after 9 a.m. after obtaining a district court search warrant, said Sgt. John Delaney, aide to Police Commissioner William Fitchet.
Police had been investigating drug activity at the apartment for the last few weeks after receiving several complaints from neighbors. The apartment had been placed under surveillance and undercover officers were able to purchase drugs there, Delaney said.
The raid resulted in the confiscation of several packets of heroin, Delaney said.
Each is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Springfield District Court.
