The mayor has suggestions for what the state should do before proposing tax increses.
WEST SPRINGFIELD - Mayor Gregory C. Neffinger attended the recent 2013 annual meeting and trade show of the Massachusetts Municipal Association in Boston.
In a press release his office issued about the affair, Neffinger identified the following three areas as things state government should work on before proposing tax increases: creating more efficiency to reduce the cost of services at the state level, eliminating unfunded mandates that are burdening local municipal budgets and coordinating municipal leaders of similar size cities to share best practices in efficiency to promote cost reduction.
“We need to discuss opposing ideas in a civil environment,” the mayor stated in the press release. “We may not always agree, but building goodwill is important for productive dialog.”
