The victim, who works for the Liberty Street pizza shop, reported that two black males stole the car and he last saw them driving down Andrew Street toward State Street.
SPRINGFIELD — Police were called to a Dawes Street address in the Bay neighborhood Saturday evening to investigate a car reported stolen from a Domino's Pizza delivery driver.
Around 8 p.m., police were called to 74 Dawes St. to investigate the stolen car, which is reportedly a black Toyota Camry with a Pennsylvania license plate reading, in part, "JKF." The victim, who works for the Liberty Street pizza shop, reported that two black males jumped in the running vehicle and took off, driving down Andrew Street toward State Street.
The delivery driver said he was "running on fumes," according to police, so the suspected thieves may not have traveled too far from the scene of the crime, which is on the border of the McKnight, Upper Hill and Old Hill neighborhoods.
Springfield police Capt. Trent Duda said that police are actively working the case and he anticipates having further information as the investigation progresses.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Springfield Police Detective Bureau at (413) 787-6355. Those who wish to remain anonymous may text a tip via a cell phone by addressing a text message to “CRIMES,“ or “274637,“ and then beginning the body of the message with the word “SOLVE."
This is a developing story and more information will be posted as it becomes available.
