Easthampton house values are up slightly, with the average home now valued at $230,413, up from $227,000, or a little over 1 percent.

EASTHAMPTON — Homeowners will be paying a little more in property taxes now that the rate has been set at $14.86 per $1,000 valuation.

This was a revaluation year and that delayed certification. The City Council recently voted to adopt a single rate for all taxpayers.

The rate is up 35 cents from the fiscal 2013 $14.51 rate or about 2.5 percent.

House values are up slightly as well, with the average home now valued at $230,413, up from $227,000, or a little over 1 percent.

The average bill will now be $3,423, up $130 from the average bill of $3,293 in fiscal 2013.

That rate includes the cost of the new high school, which voters supported in a debt exclusion override and will pay for over 20 years.

Northampton’s new rate is $15.39 per $1,000 and Amherst recently set a rate of $20.97 per $1,000.

Holyoke recently set a rate of $19.05 for residential property. While Amherst, Easthampton and Northampton all have a single rate for commercial and residential, Holyoke has a split rate for commercial and residential property owners.
