AGAWAM - Amy Arlene Vacirca, 43, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday. Born and educated in Springfield, Amy was the daughter of Francis and Althea (Shevock) Vacirca. She was a 1987 graduate of Cathedral High School, where she excelled in sports, playing varsity softball and basketball for four years. As a member of the softball team at Cathedral, she and her teammates were Western Massachachusetts champions. She received her degree in exercise science and physiology from the University of Massachusetts in 1993, and went on to coach softball.
