ENFIELD, Conn. – Connecticut State Police cited a Holyoke man for following too closely after he allegedly rear-ended a vehicle driven by a Springfield woman in the northbound lanes of Interstate 91 early Wednesday.
Both were taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield for treatment of minor injuries, according to an accident report filed by state police.
The crash occurred shortly before 5 a.m. as Jacqueline Bapiste, 44, of 136 Lloyd Ave. in Springfield, operating a Ford Focus owned by the United States Postal Service, drove north in the center lane.
Angel Rivera, 41, of 35 Springdale Ave. in Holyoke, operating a Honda Civic in the center lane, struck the rear of Baptiste’s car, causing both drivers to lose control, according to the report.
Both drivers were taken by Enfield EMS to Baystate Medical Center and both vehicles were towed from the scene. Rivera was cited for following too close, the report states.
The accident occurred near Exit 47E, which serves Route 190. The scene was cleared shortly after 5:30 a.m., according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
