A family birthday party devolces into large fight, with one injured and another to be charged.
WESTFIELD — What started as a birthday party in the backyard of an Elizabeth Avenue home erupted into a family melee with as many as 2 dozen people blocking the street when police arrived.
Westfield Police Sgt Michael Chechile said officers were dispatched to a report of a large disturbance at approximately 9:30 p.m. Saturday. When they arrived on scene, they report between 15 and 20 people were in the street fighting, and more standing and watching.
Chechile did not say how the fight started, but one person was injured and was transported to the Baystate Medical Center by Westfield Fire Department ambulance. Another family member is being sought and will be charged in connection with the fight.
