Driver William Bonilla, 42, of Westfield, and passenger Joseph Zaitshik, 31, of Springfield, were charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

SEWARD, Neb. - Two Western Massachusetts men were arrested on drug charges Thursday after a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Eastern Nebraska led to the discovery of more than 30 pounds of marijuana in their car, according to the Nebraska State Patrol.

Driver William Bonilla, 42, of Westfield, and passenger Joseph Zaitshik, 31, of Springfield, were charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

According to the state patrol, the pair was arrested just after 5 p.m. Thursday near the Milford exit for I-90 after a trooper observed their vehicle following too close to another car.

When the trooper pulled the car over, he could detect the smell of marijuana coming from the car, which gave him probable cause to search the car, state patrol officials said. Troopers found 30.5 pounds of marijuana in the trunk.

Bonilla and Zaitshik were being held Friday in the Seward County Jail pending their arraignment on the charges.
