As suspect Michael Drouillard ran through backyards in an attempt to evade police, residents were calling 911 to report his location.
LUDLOW — A 23-year-old Chicopee man was arrested Wednesday night and charged with breaking into a home on Alfred Street after the resident called police to report she returned home and found her back door kicked in, police said.
The suspect, Michael W. Drouillard Jr. of 65 Mathieu Drive, was arrested just before 7 p.m. after leading police on a foot chase through backyards in the neighborhood off Massachusetts Avenue, said Ludlow Police Sgt. Daniel Valadas. In all six police officers and a police dog were involved in the chase and neighborhood search, he said.
He said residents called 911 to report Drouillard’s position as he ran through yards and scaled fences in an attempt to evade police. Three men grabbed Drouillard at Austin and Atlantic streets and detained him long enough for officers Stephen Ricardi and Jason Chelo to arrive and take him into custody, Valadas said.
Drouillard was charged with breaking and entering in the daytime to commit a felony, malicious damage of property in excess of $250, trespassing, disturbing the peace and resisting arrest.
