Villamaino stands accused of changing the party affiliation of more than 250 town voters, then submitting fake absentee ballot requests in their names to boost his candidacy.
The Republican's Buffy Spencer will be reporting live from Hampden Superior Court today as former East Longmeadow Selectman Enrico Villamaino and his wife Courtney Llewellyn are on the docket. A plea is expected in the voter fraud case which dates back to an August 2012 surge in absentee ballots. As The Republican's Jack Flynn reported:
A former two-term selectman and legislative aide to former state Sen. Brian Lees, Villamaino stands accused of changing the party affiliation of more than 250 town voters, then submitting fake absentee ballot requests in their names to boost his candidacy in the Republican primary for a state representative’s seat.
Both Villamaino and Llewellyn pleaded not guilty in a January, 2013 hearing.
