Organizers of the benefit said $1,400 was raised for the Lord family.
HAMPDEN — A local restaurant hosted a dinner Thursday night to raise money to benefit the family of Amy Lord, the former Wilbraham resident murdered earlier this week in Boston.
The benefit dinner was hosted by McLadden’s Irish Publick House in Hampden. General Manager Joanne Creedon said a couple of hundred people attended.
The restaurant donated a portion of beer sales, and there were also raffles. Some people just donated money, Creedon said. She said she did not know the total amount raised, but organizers of the effort on Facebook said more than $1,400 was raised.
Visiting hours for Lord will be held Monday, from 3 to 7 p.m., at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield, according to her obituary.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, at 10 a.m., at St. Cecilia’s Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham.
Her family is recommending people make contributions in Amy's memory to two separate memorial funds, one for Christopher Burnham, who died on Jan. 9, 2009 at the age of 20, and the other for Mike Farrell, a leading figure in Wilbraham youth baseball who died unexpectedly on Aug. 31, 2008.
The addresses for the two funds are: Christopher James Burnham Memorial Fund, PO Box 13, Wilbraham 01095-0013, and The Friends of Mike Farrell, PO Box 963, Wilbraham 01095.
