State police will block both lanes of travel beginning at 1 p.m.
BECKET – The state Department of Transportation intends to close both directions of traffic on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Becket for about 15 minutes Thursday afternoon, the department announced Wednesday.
The shut down is part of planned blasting work on rock ledges above the highway. Work crews will be conducting test blasts that will be used to determine the scope of work necessary when the project to remove large amounts of ledges gets underway later this year.
