New York woman injured in motorcycle crash in the Berkshires

Kristal Clevenger, 42, of New Lebanon, N.Y., was injured in a motorcycle crash in Stockbridge, according to authorities.

STOCKBRIDGE — Police continue to investigate a Sunday afternoon motorcycle crash in Stockbridge that injured a New York woman.

Kristal Clevenger, 42, of New Lebanon, was riding westbound on Route 102 shortly before 5 p.m. when she lost control of her bike near the Massachusetts Turnpike overpass and crashed, according to Stockbridge police, who were unable to provide an update early Monday.

Clevenger was taken by ambulance to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield and later transferred to to Albany Medical Center in New York. The extent of her injuries were not immediately known, but The Berkshire Eagle described them as serious.

The region experienced stormy weather around the time of the crash, but it remains unknown if weather conditions contributed to the crash.

A Stockbridge police dispatcher said police Chief Richard B. Wilcox, the only official authorized to provide updates on the crash, would not be on duty until later Monday morning.

At the time of the crash, Clevenger was reportedly riding with a group of other motorcyclists about a mile west of the Berkshire Botanical Gardens, located at the intersections of routes 102 and 183.
