NORTHAMPTON United Way of Hampshire County has added four programs focusing on young children to its network of partner organizations in an effort to increase its focus on children and strengthen its geographical balance.

The Child and Family Clinic of the Cutchins Programs in Northampton; Strong Foundations for Young Children, which operates out of Easthampton and Ware; the Under 5 Thrive program of the Carson Center in Ware, and the Hilltown Collaborative for Children and Families will join United Way’s other 32 partner agencies and programs on July 1, according to United Way Executive Director James Ayres.

As partners in United Way of Hampshire County, the programs will receive funding from United Way for three years. Ayres said the move helps advance United Way's commitments to economic security, health and safety and children and youth.

“We’ve been doing a lot of good youth work,” Ayres said. “We want to provide additional services for very young children.”

The Cutchins clinic provides mental health services for youth from birth to 18, with a focus on the youngest and most vulnerable.

Strong Foundations, a program of the Collaboration for Education Services, tends to the social and emotional needs of young children within the context of their families.

The Under 5 Program serves youth who are pregnant or parenting at a young age.

The Hilltown Collaborative for Children and Families offers parent education, home visits, counseling and other services.
