3 Pittsfield women deny stabbing during fracas

The five women had a history of animosity, including fights, and intimidation, attorneys confirmed.

PITTSFIELD — Three Pittsfield women denied they stabbed one woman and severely beat another during a fracas in the parking lot of a Crane Avenue lounge.

Alicya M. Hubbard, 22, Brittany Gresser, also 22, and 34-year-old Shanay Jones entered pleas of not guilty to charges of mayhem and two counts each of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery.

The Berkshire Eagle reports the charges stem from a March incident that left a 25-year-old woman with a deep slash to the face, cuts to the neck and chest and a concussion. Her 21-year-old cousin suffered a dislocated shoulder, sprains, scrapes and bruising when the three defendants allegedly jumped them in the Back Nine Lounge parking lot.

The women were originally charged with attempted murder for the stabbing. However, that charge was later amended to mayhem, which carries a 20-year prison term.

Police reported to the court that the women had a history of animosity.

The three were released on their personal recognizance pending a September pretrial hearing.
