A motorcycle rider was killed in a collision with a car in Worcester
WORCESTER — A rider of a sport motorcycle was killed when a car he was attempting to pass on the right turned into his path and ran him over.
The Worcester Telegram and Gazette reports the rider was apparently killed instantly shortly before 11 p.m. Friday night. His body lay at the scene of the Green Street accident for a significant amount of time before being removed by authorities.
According to witnesses, the rider of the motorcycle was speeding on Green Street in the vicinity of Kelley Square when it approached a vehicle moving in the same direction. The motorcycle then attempted to pass the car on the inside as it eased to the right, either to pull to the curb or to make a right turn into a parking lot. The motorcycle crashed into the side of the car knocking the rider to the ground. One witness said the vehicle ran over the motorcycle rider after he fell from the bike
A Worcester Police Department accident reconstruction team remained on the scene until after 2 a.m. Saturday taking photographs and measurements.
