One man was rushed to the hospital with gunshot injuries, police said.

HOLYOKE — One man was rushed to the hospital following a Tuesday afternoon shooting on Beech Street, and police are now working to find those responsible, said Lt. Matthew Moriarty of the Holyoke Police Detective Bureau.
The injured man, whose name was not disclosed, was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, Moriarty said. His condition is not known.
The shooting was reported at about 5:30 p.m. Moriarty said officer Patrick Leahy was on bike patrol in the area when he heard the sound of gunshots. He radioed it in and then pedaled toward the sounds to investigate.
When he arrived in the the area of 100 Beech St. moments after the shooting, he found a crowd gathering and a man lying injured on the ground, Moriarty said.
The police bicycles are fitted with first aid kits, and Leahy aided the man until a EMTS arrived on scene.
Moriarty released no information on possible suspects.
Beech Street was closed to traffic between Dwight and Appleton Streets for close to 90 minutes while police investigated. The road has since been reopened.
The department's Mobil Community Police van had been parked a few blocks away but it relocated to the scene while Beech Street to aid in the investigation.
In addition to Holyoke police, troopers with the Massachusetts State Police were also on scene aiding the investigation.
