The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for central Franklin County through 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
The warning was issued at 5:03 p.m. According to the NWS statement, Doppler radar at 5 p.m. showed a "severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado." The weather service said the storm was near Plainfield, about 14 miles west of Greenfield.
The storm was moving east at 30 miles per hour.

When a tornado warning is issued, the National Weather Service urges people in the affected area to take immediate cover by going to a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building, away from windows.
