WILBRAHAM – A 7-year-old girl apparently drowned Saturday afternoon at a residence in Wilbraham, and police and state police are investigating.
Wilbraham Police Sgt. Robert G. Zollo said the call came in at approximately 5:30 p.m.; the girl was rushed to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where she was pronounced dead.
Zollo described her as a guest at the house, and said she was found unresponsive in her bathing suit in the heated in-ground pool. An emergency official identified the address as 14 Shirley St., which is a neighborhood off Springfield Street. Zollo could not confirm the address, but a police car was seen outside the residence Saturday night.
Zollo said one of the girl’s parents was at the house at the time, but it is not known if she was alone in the pool.
The girl’s name was not released, pending notification of all family members.
Wilbraham Officer Justin Wall is investigating.
