A car failed to stop for a sign at an East Longmeadow intersection, and was struck by a second vehilce, injuring six people and wrecking both cars.
EAST LONGMEADOW — A two-car crash sent six people to the Baystate Medical Center by ambulance later Saturday evening.East Longmeadow Police Sgt. Daniel Bruno said the 10 p.m. accident occured when one vehicle, traveling southbound on Lee Street, apparently failed to stop for a stop sign and was struck by a second car traveling westbound on Pease Road. The impact of the collision sent both cars into a utility pole knocking it down.
An elderly woman had to be extracted from the wreckage of the car she was a passenger in by East Longmeadow Fire Department personnel, Bruno said. She, along with an elderly man in the same vehicle, and four people in the second vehicle were all transported by AMR Ambulance from the scene. Bruno said no major trauma was reported among the injured people.
The accident investigated is being conducted by Officer Timothy Daley, Bruno said, and no citations have been issued yet. .
