SPRINGFIELD - Rapper Dr. Westchesterson, an Agawam native who's hyped Western Massachusetts in some recent videos, says its time to get out and party.
The good doctor, known for this old-school hip hop odes to the region "413" and "(I'm from) Western Mass." has partnered with the the Greater Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau (G a new video release focusing on dining and nightlife in the Pioneer Valley.
In this one, Dr. Westchesterson brings his brown-and-orange outfits to the Student Prince Café, The Federal, Uno Chicago Grill, Adolfo’s Ristorante, the White Hut, Mama Iguana’s and many more local locations.
Expect something a little less straightforward than your usual promotional travelogue from the decidedly pro-legalization Dr. Westchesterson.
His last release, "(I'm from) Western Mass.," busts out the following fresh rhyme:
"There's plenty of trees
And lots of grass.
You get what you need in Western Mass
“It made sense to stick with a similar style as the first two videos since that’s what people seemed to respond to and that’s what the GSCVB wanted," Westchesterson, born Marc Scortino and a 1991 graduate of Agawam HighSchool, said in a prepared statement.
The Greater Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau will ebut the video from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on April 12 at the Delaney House in Holyoke.
Dr. Westchesterson will be at the event, which is free, open to the public and will feature appetizers and a cash bar. Following the premiere, the video will be visible on the Bureau’s web site (www.valleyvisitor.com).
It's an event Westchesterson bills on his website as 4-13 eve, get it 4-13, the 413.
Visitors' bureau president Mary Kay Wydra said she's been trying to target marketing to millennial between the ages of 21 and 30.
" We’re very happy with the resulting video, and we’re sure it will serve to remind his fans of the many terrific dining and nightlife options that can be found here," she said.
