SPRINGFIELD — Mayor Domenic Sarno discusses if he favors narrowing down Springfield's casino proposals to one to present to voters, among other topics, in his latest "Ask Mayor Sarno" video interview with The Republican.

"Our goal is to find the most viable sites or site and the best deal for the residents and taxpayers of Springfield," Sarno told reporter Peter Goonan and photographer Mark M. Murray. He said Springfield is an advantageous position in which three "world-class entities have to compete among themselves."

Sarno also talked about the city's decision to release Request for Proposals for two tornado-damaged properties in the South End – the former Springfield State Armory building and the former Alfred G. Zanetti School.

He said the city is "looking to maximize all our options" by continuing to pursue funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for repairs as well as testing the fair market value.

Sarno also urged residents to participate in Sunday's Veterans Day parade. Sponsored by the Springfield Veterans Activities Committee, the observance will include a ceremony at Court Square and placing a wreath at the War Monument. It begins at 11 a.m. outside Springfield Technical Community College and travels down State Street to Court Square.
